Description
Engineered specifically for the controlled extraction of permanent maxillary third molars (wisdom teeth), the premium Fig. 67A Extraction Forceps are a vital, highly specialized component of oral surgery and exodontia kits. Upper wisdom teeth are notoriously difficult to access due to their deep position at the very back of the maxillary arch, often compounded by limited patient mouth opening and proximity to the coronoid process of the mandible. The Fig. 67A design addresses these clinical challenges through a unique, deeply bayonet-shaped structural geometry.
The defining anatomical highlight of the Fig. 67A is its pronounced double-bend bayonet shank and offset beak architecture. The dramatic upward and backward curve of the shaft allows the clinician to bypass the entire anterior and premolar dentition completely unhindered. This elegant offset shape clears the patient’s lip margins and lower jaw structure, providing direct, straight-line mechanical access into the deep tuberosity region while maintaining a completely unobstructed line of sight.
Unlike standard upper molar forceps (such as the Fig. 18) which feature asymmetrical beaks for specific right or left root configurations, the Fig. 67A features symmetrical, broad, un-pointed concave beaks. Because maxillary third molars exhibit highly unpredictable, fused, or conical root structures rather than three cleanly separated roots, a pointed bifurcation tip is counterproductive. The mirror-image, smooth concave pads of the Fig. 67A close parallel to one another, universally cradling the neck of the tooth on both the upper left and upper right quadrants. This allows the operator to safely apply high apical pressure and rotational luxation forces to sever the periodontal ligament without fracturing the fragile posterior maxillary bone.
Key Features & Technical Specifications
- Deep Bayonet Offset Design: Specifically engineered with an elongated, double-curved shank to access the most remote areas of the upper jaw without corner-of-mouth interference.
- Universal Symmetrical Beaks: Features smooth, broad concave working tips without individual points, making the instrument fully universal for both upper right and upper left wisdom teeth.
- Micro-Textured Inner Beak Surfaces: The internal walls of the grasping pads are finely finished to optimize friction and deliver a secure, non-slip hold on slick, conical crown surfaces.
- English-Pattern Ergonomic Handles: Outfitted with wide, heavily knurled cross-hatch handles that provide an absolute, non-slip grip and maximum manual torque control.
- High-Purity Surgical Steel: Forged from premium medical-grade stainless steel to completely resist rust, structural pitting, and chemical staining from harsh disinfectants.
- 100% Autoclavable: Fully engineered to repeatedly withstand high-temperature autoclave sterilization, thermal disinfection, and deep ultrasonic cleaning cycles.
